Question by LINDSEY S: please help….question about personal debt…..?
we are trying to get ourselves out of debt but we only seem to be digging ourselves a deeper hole. we have tried to cut back on spending but it seams that something comes up everymonth. for example last month my bf had his company computer stollen and the expenses department wouldn’t cover it. we do pay our bills and credit cards and don’t use unless we have to. my bf doesn’t want a loan and doesn’t want to ask my parents for money since they are paying for most of my sisters wedding. does any one have any tips on how to consolidate or at least start to dig ourselves out of this?
my bf has bad credit. and can get a line of credit at the moment. i don’t belive myself in haing credit cards.
we had a line of credit but the bank took it away BY ACCIDENT and we can’t get it back.

I would look at all the interest you are paying on your debt first of all. After you figure out what interest rates you are paying I would see if you can get either a line of credit or credit card at a lower rate. If you can do that combine all your debt into one place and set a goal for when you want to have it paid off by. When you set a goal there is an end of debt in sight and that helps keep your spending in check!

Question by Ken: Now that we bailed the banks out of debt; what about the people who still owe them?
All of the bad decisions and bad management in banks and on Wall Street has been rewarded by the taxpayer taking on all of their bad assets leaving them with a clean balance sheet. In all fairness, what could possibly be done to provide equity to all the people who foot the bill? How about the Fed taking over all our personal debt too? Seriously, do you see anything coming down the road for us?

You get to keep your job. If they hadn’t done this people could lose more than the tax money they pay. The government will own these properties and could sell them down the road and recoup some of the monies.

Maybe you should get a used car. Anyway, you shoudl check with a credit union. They are non-profit so they have better rates. If the credit union does not give you a loan…..listen to this…..if they don’t give you the loan you cannot afford a loan and should not get one…….
If they turn you down you should borrow from family if you possibly can. There are lawyers who will help you set up a family loan for a fixed fee that protects the family member that is loaning you the money, but be preapred, if you don’t pay it back they will have all legal means at their disposal to come after you.

If you have bad credit, your not going to get anything. IF some of those shady places will give you something, you will get totally screwed on interest!
